Company History

Starting in the late 1990’s, the founders of Tricon Homes recognized the potential of the inner-city transitional neighborhoods, which at the time were far from the highly attractive or sought after areas they are today. Fully vested in this endeavor, they chose to not only build, but also operate out of the Heights, which allowed them to gain a greater sense for the community and an appreciation of what it had to offer. First, working from an old American Foursquare style home along Heights Boulevard, and then later from a 10,000 sq. ft. office in Sunset Heights, which they designed in such a manner as to maintain the integrity of the streetscape while also reflecting Tricon’s signature styling. From 2011 through early 2016, they operated out of the Statesman Life Building, which was redeveloped in 2002 and caters to architecture and design firms – near St. Thomas University, and provided a more central location as they built more homes in the neighboring areas of Montrose, the Museum District and the Med Center.  In 2016, they decided to downsize their operation significantly and move their operation to a small Victorian cottage, originally built in 1890 in the Historic Old 6th Ward- completely renovated and re-purposed as an office by Tricon. More recently, Tricon completely shut down its operation of and now focuses strictly on a very small custom clientele.

The growth and presence of Tricon over a span of almost 20 years can be seen throughout many neighborhoods as is shown in the hundreds of projects, many shown on the GALLERY page. Their contribution to the renaissance and renewal of the community in each neighborhood is the foundation of their success. The legacy of their work is evident in the collection of Victorian style homes found throughout the tree-lined streets of the Greater Heights as well as in the more contemporary and modern-rustic lofts that abound the streets of inner Houston’s city neighborhoods.

Over the years, Tricon Homes has become a well respected builder and has garnished a reputation for their versatile designs which integrate the prevalent architectural styles of the area into the exterior design, while offering open living spaces and practical floor plans that are conducive to a modern lifestyle. At the helm of architecture and design direction is Tristan Berlanga.
